Kids’ rooms are full of life, energy, and imagination—and a lot of chaos. With a few intentional changes, you can create a space that sparks creativity and individuality while keeping daily routines simple and stress-free.

Our Kids Room Guide is a step-by-step resource to help you tackle toys, clothes, and all the little things that pile up, to make systems seamless and keep you from feeling overwhelmed.

3 Tips to Get Started

Shop and order products

Certain items are an integral part of the organizing process. Hangers, baskets, and drawer organizers can help you establish clear homes for belongings, and can bring ease to knowing what goes where. Measure your space and take note of what you can use, and don’t be afraid to order more than what you need—you can always return what isn’t used and avoid multiple trips to stores!

Edit before you organize

One of the most important steps is sorting and editing everything in the room. Start by taking all items out of closets and drawers, and put them into general categories like clothes, accessories, and books. Once it’s all visible, review and edit each category into piles of keep, store elsewhere, donate, and discard. This way, you’ll know exactly what you’re working with when it’s time to organize.

Create zones

The main three zones in a kid’s bedroom are: hanging space (closet or wardrobe), space for folded clothes (dresser), and books/toy storage (baskets, bins, bookshelves). Hanging space is best for delicate clothing, occasion and seasonal items, and outerwear. You can also hang sweaters if space allows! Drawers are great for basics like pajamas, onesies, t-shirts, pants, and sets. The top drawer can also be used for diapers, burp clothes, and bibs if you have little ones!
